A comprehensive test of the drill shows the almost exponential effect of these improvements. The technical innovations result into some of these improvements. The series of tests can be represented as follows: new drill (standard centre bit against Wave Cutter “Evolution“), same diameter and automatic drilling. It was tested in hard wood (calibration timber) with a CNC-milling machine. Approximately 12 mm deep holes were drilled repetitively. Every drill was tested till the spindle capacity of the drill exceeded the torque requirement. In this moment, an automatic standstill of machines to be tested was achieved.

The test results show the major effects of optimizations on the new Wave Cutter „Evolution” very clearly. As compared to the standard centre bit, it would be clear that mainly the effects on the service life of the drill and the enormous increase in the rotation speed are apparent.

As compared to the tested products, the service life is longer up to 3.6 times. The diagram at the bottom right represents the test result graphically as an extract (centre bit against Wave Cutter “Evolution“). The recommended rotation speed can be increased up to 25%. Thereby it is to be emphasised that these serious effects of differential optimizations on the overall product can be reduced. Some of these changes are given below.

The chip emission in the pre-cutter occurs inwards. Thereby, a better cutting effect is ensured when operating on the material.

The optimization of cutting results into an improved running of the drill. The sharp cutting effect reduces the dynamic friction while drilling.
Thus there is lesser heat emission and the drill wears out very slowly. With the point contact of cutting on the material, an optimum running of the drill can be ensured.
